Does interest matter? Depends. If a school asks you to sign in when you take a tour, interest matters. In short, colleges want to admit students who are likely to enroll. Why? That means they can fill their class with less offers. The result: lower admit rate and the relative prestige associated with a low admit rate. The most selective schools do not count contact – but the ones just a bit below … they do!
